THESE PHOTOS ARE FRAGMENTS OF MY JOURNEY, SET AGAINST THE STRANGE NEW WORLD I FOUND MYSELF IN AFTER MOVING TO THE UK. IT STARTED AS AN ATTEMPT TO CAPTURE NATURE, PEOPLE, PRECIOUS MOMENTS, AND ROUTINES AROUND ME, BUT SOON BECAME SOMETHING MORE - A BITTERSWEET RECORD OF BEING ALONE, OF PIECING MYSELF BACK TOGETHER IN A PLACE THAT FELT BOTH STRANGE AND ACHINGLY BEAUTIFUL. A PLACE WHERE YOU THOUGHT YOU’D FIND A BETTER LIVE FOR YOURSELF.
THE SEA, THE SHADOWS OF TREES, MY CAMERA, AND MUSIC WERE MY DEAR COMPANIONS AND KEPT ME GROUNDED AS I FACED DISTANCE FROM FAMILY AND HOME, THE NEW FEELING OF LONELINESS OF BEING A STRANGER IN A NEW WORLD, THE LOSS OF HEARTFELT TIES, AND THE GRIEF FROM DREAMS THAT DRIFTED OUT OF REACH.
IN THESE MOMENTS, I FELT BOTH PULLED APART AND HELD TOGETHER, DISSOLVING AND REBUILDING MYSELF PIECE BY PIECE, SURROUNDED BY MEMORIES AND NEW PERSPECTIVES.
I USED TO FEAR LONELINESS FOR SO LONG, BUT NOW IT FEELS LIKE ONE OF THE MOST MYSTERIOUSLY BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN THE WORLD.
PS: I ALSO KEPT NOTES OF WORDS, SENTENCES, AND PARAGRAPHS I PICKED UP HERE AND THERE. SOME OF THEM SOUNDED INTERESTING, FUN OR STRANGE TO ME, SOME HELPED ME TO DESCRIBE FEELINGS AND HOW I SEE THE WORLD AROUND ME + A FEW WORDS OR SAYINGS I DIDN’T KNOW BEFORE. I USED SOME OF THEM FOR THE TITLES.
